From an English perspective we should have very fixed ideas about most, if not all, of this. But who are we to pontificate?!!

Different culture, different vocabulary - all adds to life's rich pattern!!

Very true! We are always struck by the different words and phrases used when we are in England and we find it facinating. In our own American culture, perhaps we are less tolerant. Some people are certainly annoyed, however, word choices are amusing and interesting to me, and, like you, find it adds uniqueness to conversation. I am so glad to took the time to visit!
